Helping people to help themselves. Concentration on the essentials.
The village of Jahaly has been the starting point of our projects in The Gambia since 1988. Jahaly is located on the south side of the Gambia River - 270 kilometers from the capital Banjul and the well-developed coastal region.
Twice a year, rice is planted in the surrounding fields. The stagnant water in the rice fields is a year-round breeding ground for the larvae of the Anopheles mosquito. They are the cause of the extremely high rate of malaria cases around Jahaly.
